Celebrate Canada 150 in #YYC

June 29, 2017

On July 1st, 2017 Canada will be celebrating its 150th birthday! Although we’ve had celebrations throughout the first half of the year, we already know Calgary’s biggest celebrations will be held this Saturday. From firework shows, great entertainment and even some pancake breakfasts, there’s a whole lot to do with not enough time!

Here’s a few of many amazing events that we hope to check out:

Canada Day at Fort Calgary

Beginning with a free pancake breakfast in the morning, this event is a full day of celebration. Family friendly activities go all day long and include: live local music, the Treaty 7 exhibit, a food truck caravan, petting zoo and more!  The event will be on from 9AM to 4PM.

Calgary Canada Day Fireworks

Set against a breath taking backdrop of Calgary’s skyline and the setting sun beyond the Canadian Rockies, the 2017 Canada Day Fireworks will hit the horizon with a bang. Enjoy the show from any of the viewing locations along the entire Bow River Corridor. The 30 minute firework show will begin at 11:10 PM.

Canada Day Celebrations at Riverfront Avenue

If you are looking for another all day event, Canada Day at Riverfront Avenue is a great option. The day will include multicultural performances including Midnight Taiko Drumming, Calgary Spark Productions, Bollywood Dance, Woezo African Dance and performances by Juno Award winning and Grammy Nominated Tegan and Sara. This event will be on from 10AM to 11:40PM.
