This Saturday, join us at Marlborough Mall to celebrate National Aboriginal Day at Marlborough Mall! We welcome everyone to experience the arts and music of Aboriginal culture as we honor Indigenous communities and traditions in Canada. Performances and activities will include traditional drumming, dancing, artisanal vendors and much more.
Did You Know?
Over 1.4 million individuals in Canada identify themselves as Aboriginal. There are three distinct groups that make up the Aboriginal community, these being: First Nations, Metis and Inuit.
Canada recognizes June 21st as National Aboriginal Day, which many of us also know as the Summer Solstice. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, and for many Indigenous Peoples and communities, this is a time where individuals celebrate their culture and heritage.
We will have the following vendors on site from 11AM to 7PM:
TRIPLE SSS CREATIONS, IIAS NATIVE BEADWORK, KRISTY P ILLUSTRATION, SIMONE SMITH, LIZARD EPOXY CABS & DESIGNS, MELINDA BEARSPAW, EMB NATIVE INNOVATIONS, BELINDA BULL SHOE, SUKAPII CREATIONS, and MICHUKSI CRAFT.
In addition, we will have performances taking place from 1PM to 3PM.
Let’s come together to honor the First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities and culture. Each of the three distinct groups unique heritage, traditions and outstanding contributions are a significant part to our development as a nation.
"It's really important that we let the world know that we continue our dancing, our singing, and our drumming. We still make our baskets and regalia and it's very important that the world knows that we are a living Nation." - Lois Mamaya Joseph, Team Leader, Lil'watul Culture Centre
We hope to see you there!comments powered by Disqus
